www.automotive-feet.com Editor and Publisher Ed Bobit FUEL REPORT Vice President Group Publisher, FleetGroup Sherb Brown Strong Demand and Global Turmoil Push Prices Higher but Relief on the Way (310) 533-2451 According to the Department of Energy (DOE), the demand for gasoline was up by as much as 1 percent compared to the summer of 2012. The ongoing Syrian crisis has pushed crude prices above $100 per barrel again, despite the fact that the U.S. receives very little oil from the political hotspot. Domestic production in the U.S. is up to levels not seen since 1980, and the forecast is that more oil used in the U.S. will originate from North American sources. Barring a major outbreak of war in the Middle East, most experts believe crude prices will fade once the crisis concludes, and wholesale prices will see large drops as refners switch to easier and cheaper ways to make winter spec of fuel.  Most analysts predict that the national average could fall below $3.25 per gallon before the year ends with some areas seeing gasoline prices as low as $2.50 per gallon. Market watchers predict that the national average for diesel fuel is headed above $4 per gallon.
