Bobit Fleet Awards Taking Center Stage at AFLA Conference Bobit Business Media will present the Professional Fleet Manager and Fleet Executive of the Year awards at the 2013 AFLA Conference. B obit Business Media (BBM) is giving feet professionals one more reason to attend the 2013 Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association (AFLA) Conference this September: Be there in person when the winners of the prestigious 2013 Professional Fleet Manager of the Year and Fleet Executive of the Year are announced. Making the Switch In November 2012, BBM announced its decision to switch the venue for the Automotive Fleet Professional Fleet Manager of the Year and Fleet Financials Fleet Executive of the Year award presentations to the 2013 AFLA Conference, scheduled for Sept.10-13, 2013, at the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz. "AFLA's strategic focus is serving the needs of commercial feet managers. Since these two awards are focused on recognizing excellence in the commercial feet management profession, we believe this will further solidify AFLA's reputation as being the voice of the commercial feet management industry," said Tom Callahan, AFLA president. Te Professional Fleet Manager of the Year award is sponsored by AFLA and Wheels Inc., and the Fleet Executive of the 32 Year award is sponsored exclusively by CEI. As part of its co-sponsorship, AFLA provides Fleet Manager of the Year Award honorees with a $5,000 scholarship check to bestow to the business school of their choice. "In recognition of AFLA's long-time support of the awards, BBM has made the decision to present the awards at the annual AFLA Conference moving forward. AFLA is focused on commercial feets, and these awards recognize commercial feet managers and executives," said Ed Bobit, BBM founder and editor and publisher of AF and FF. Recognizing Industry Excellence Since 1985, the Professional Fleet Manager of the Year award has recognized the best of the best in the industry, many of whom operate the largest commercial feets in the U.S. Professionals are nominated by their peers and narrowed down to three fnalists. Te winner is selected by a panel of judges comprised of past winners, manufacturers, auctions, feet management companies, dealers, and the media.  Lee Miller, senior manager of Fleet Services for Boehringer Ingelheim, was the most recent recipient of the award, earning the title in 2012 out of a pool of 16 high- AUTOMOTIVE FLEET & LEASING ASSOCIATION ANNUAL REVIEW 2013 ly qualifed candidates. Prior to her win, the 33-year veteran was a fve-time nominee and a fnalist in 2011. Miller manages more than 4,000 leased vehicles in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. BBM acknowledges the leadership supporting these top feet managers with the Fleet Executive of the Year Award. Te CEI-sponsored award was created to recognize exceptional leadership by senior and C-Level executives who have made signifcant contributions to feet vehicle management. Executives are nominated by feet managers, as well as industry peers. A panel of industry judges evaluates criteria submissions including cost-saving initiatives, policy setting, creation of innovative programs, and cultivation of feet manager training and management. Maggie Cole, director of environment, safety & health (ESH) for Monsanto, was named 2012 Fleet Executive of the Year. Cole was responsible for the St. Louisheadquartered multinational agriculture corporation's Global Vehicle Safety and Global Of the Job programs, covering approximately 22,000 employees worldwide. She was also responsible for the U.S. commercial ESH programs for the company's sales and marketing departments. ■
