MY BEST AFLA Memories Members of the Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association share their favorite memories from past events. My most memorable moment was just this past conference when I was inducted into the AF Fleet Hall of Fame. To be honored like that in front of a few hundred of your peers — some of whom elected you — can leave you fairly speechless. I've been so blessed to have made friendships and business relationships with some of our industry's finest, both past and present. And, even though AFLA is only once per year, when we all get together it's like we just saw each other last week. Sue Miller, CAFS, Director, Fleet Management Services McDonald's Corp. Richard Alaniz, who presented on fleet liability, was a real eye opener that made me really rethink how we handle safety at my company. After hearing Mercury Associates' Paul Lauria present on strategic planning for the fleet department, I immediately went back and did one. It really helped my management team see all the things we do, but never assess! On the fun side, my most memorable moments were going to Disco Thursday at one of the conference resorts. Those with me will remember dancing, the lady in the red dress, and Jameson's — just to name a few things that happened that night. What a great time of networking and having fun! Donna Bibbo, CAFM, Manager, Fleet & Travel Novo Nordisk I would say my most memorable moment was the interview Automotive Fleet Editor Mike Antich conducted with Bob Lutz. Lutz is such an industry icon, having worked for GM, Ford, BMW, and Chrysler. His vast experience and spirited personality made for an entertaining event! Another very memorable speaker was Steven Ratner. I think everyone was extremely interested to hear Ratner speak about his involvement in the rescue of GM and Chrysler and how it played out. I like it when AFLA takes a risk to have presenters who offer controversy to spark conversations and debates surrounding our industry. Lee Miller, Senior Manager, Fleet Services Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. My most memorable moment would be my personal induction into the AF Fleet Hall of Fame during the 2011 AFLA Conference in San Diego — an accomplishment that words can't possibly describe, and an honor that I cherish and take very seriously.
