Tis also reduced CO2 emissions by 13,000 metric tons. Among the ways the company was able to achieve this reduction was with its telematics system. Next, UPS rerouted vehicles as-needed based on changing customer pick-up requests, requested changes in delivery, etc. Using telematics, in 2012, the company said it improved the number of stops per mile to 1.456 from 1.437 in 2011, which translates into the 12.1 million miles the company's drivers avoided driving. Shoemaker of Flexco Bullish About Online Remarketing While the traditional vehicle remarketing lane is thriving in the 21st century as record sales show, Ron Shoemaker, CEO of Flexco Fleet Services, pointed out during an interview with Automotive Fleet, so is online selling. "It's not a fad. It's here to stay," he said. Shoemaker has cause to be bullish about online remarketing. For example, Flexco's online employee remarketing proSHOEMAKER gram has increased 78 percent this year and the company has also begun selling vehicles online for the U.S. Government's General Services Administration (GSA) in Denver. Tere are two related reasons for the increasing use and success of online selling, according to Shoemaker. "Buyers are becoming more comfortable buying online and they trust they're going to get a good product," he said. Tellingly, many of the vehicles that are being sold online for the GSA at Flexco's Denver facility are to out-of-state buyers who are more than willing to transport the vehicle to their location. As with traditional in-thelane remarketing, online selling has something for every buyer, according to Shoemaker. "I believe all the vehicle and market segments are in the online arena," Shoemaker said. Don't wait another month to fnd out what's going on in the industry.
