LETTERS TO THE EDITOR More Feedback to 2013 Green Fleet Conference The 2013 Green Fleet Conference & Expo, held in Phoenix October 1-2, offered a variety of feet-focused sessions and panels through three feet tracks: commercial, heavy-duty truck, and government. The Green Fleet Conference also featured a Ride & Drive Street Fair that included 21 automakers offering test drives of alternatively fueled and powered vehicles. See the November 2013 issue for initial attendee feedback. Below is additional feedback from attendees: Four-Time Attendee The 2013 Green Fleet Conference & Expo was my fourth, and I am glad that I decided to go. The investment provided critical take-away information in the form of education, manufacturer/vendor presentations/exhibits, case studies and networking opportunities — again allowing me to bring back more info as a feet dealer to share with our clients and to help them with their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint in the most cost effective way. My single issue with this conference is that it consistently requires me to be out of town on October 2, my wife's birthday! on everyone's calendars to attend each year. If you are not investing your time in becoming educated about alternative-fuel choices and new technology then you are just a passenger on a bus and at some point in your future someone else is going to be making decisions as to where your operations are heading and how you are going to get there. Educational sessions, the ride-and-drive event, networking, having vendors all in one place, and learning what the Top Green Fleet Award winners are accomplishing and how they achieved their goals is what makes this conference a must-attend event each year. Orest Mirchuk Director of Fleet Operations Major/City World Automotive Group Long Island City, N.Y. Benefcial Networking I always fnd that networking with other managers is the most benefcial, and the seminars created these opportunities and more. Mike Palazzolo Superintendent of Auto Maintenance City of Springfeld, Ill. Real-World Information With all the information out there, I am able to make a more informed decision on what will be best for our feet. Actual comparisons with several alternative-fuel solutions for bus feets allowed for this. David Worthington Fleet Operations Manager County of Sonoma, Calif. Great Meet & Greet Covered All Fuel Sources I really enjoy the opportunities to meet and share ideas with other feet managers at the Green Fleet Conference. Typically, the best ideas are found during these conversations. For my frst time at the conference, I enjoyed seeing all the new technology in all areas of alternative-fuel sources being used. Rafael Guardiola Fleet Manager Dysart Unifed School District Surprise, Ariz. Doug Bond Transportation Services Manager Alameda County, Calif. Best Ride & Drive I thought the Ride & Drive was the best part of the show. Brian Trice Education and Events Director TransEnergy Solutions Portland, Ore. Dan Tajc Automotive Service Assistant Supervisor Northern Arizona University Flagstaff, Ariz. It's always better to be the driver of the bus and determining where you are going and how you are going to get there, than being a passenger just along for the ride. The Green Fleet Conference should be 8 AUTOMOTIVE FLEET I DECEMBER 2013 The Green Fleet Conference & Expo gave me several ideas that were easy to implement and will result in reduced fuel consumption. Ron Kahler Fleet Services Manager University of Washington Seattle Worldwide View The Green Fleet Conference was a great chance to see how other parts of the world are working. Brian Tabel Director of Marketing Isuzu Commercial Truck of America Anaheim, Calif. Abundant New Tech 'Better to be the Driver' Ideas to Implement The Green Fleet Conference is a fantastic venue to see all the new technology available for reducing a feet's carbon footprint, fuel usage, and, ultimately, cost.
